Performance of PhytoGen® Cotton Varieties in On Farm Innovation Trials from the North and South Delta in 2007

A.R. Parker, Le L. Reginelli, and R. A. Haygood. Dow AgroSciences, 9330 Zionsville Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46268

PhytoGen Innovation plot evaluations were made across the MidSouth & Southwest in 2007.  The PhytoGen varieties included varieties which express the WideStrike™ Insect Protection trait alone or in combination with the Roundup Ready® or Roundup Ready Flex® traits and were compared to 3 to 4 competitive varieties containing BollGard®, BollGard II® stacked in combination with Roundup Ready® or Roundup Ready Flex® herbicide traits.  University, County Agent and PhytoGen small plot replicated trials validate excellent high yields and very good fiber quality across a broad range of geographies and conditions when compared to other market leading varieties.   Results suggest that PhytoGen varieties PHY 370 WR, PHY 375 WRF, PHY 480 WR, PHY 485 WRF, and PHY 440 W  performed well across a wide range of environments and offered very good seedling vigor and excellent yield potential with good fiber quality across the Southwest and Mid-South growing areas.
