Nematicidal Properties of Seed Applied Abamectin and Thiodicarb on Meloidogyne incognita and Rotylenchulus reniformis

Lijuan Xing1, Christoph Grimm1, Alex Cochran1, and David H. Long2. (1) Syngenta Seed Care, 118 Kennedy Flat Road, Leland, MS 38756, (2) Syngenta Crop Protection, P.O. Box 18300, Greensboro, NC 27409

The nematicidal active ingredient within Avicta® is abamectin, one of the most potent nematicides ever discovered. The efficacy of abamectin on Meloidogyne incognita and Rotylenchulus reniformis, two of the most economically important nematode pests for U.S. cotton production, were investigated in either in-vitro or greenhouse studies in which abamectin was evaluated as a seed treatment. In-vitro LC50 studies were conducted to evaluate the nematicidal properties of abamectin and thiodicarb against M. incognita and R. reniformis.  Efficacy of abamectin and thiodicarb applied as a seed treatment on M. incognita and R. reniformis in greenhouse bioassay will also be discussed.
