Two new, early maturing picker varieties with Roundup Ready Flex (RF) technology will be offered for sale by Dow AgroSciences’ PhytoGen Cottonseed in 2008: PHY 315 RF and PHY 375 WRF. The latter will also have the latest, two gene Bt, transgenic insect protection offered by WideStrike (W). Both varieties are very similar in maturity to DP 444 BG/RR, and are derived from elite germplasm that has been widely tested in the United States in company trials, university official variety trials, as well as by selected university researchers. Both varieties produced lint yields similar to PHY 370 WR when averaged across the U.S cotton belt, and produced fiber quality that was equal to or better than PHY 370 WR. The early maturity and fruiting habit exhibited by these varieties as well as lint yield and fiber quality suggest that PHY 315 RF and PHY 375 WRF have very good fiber quality and yield potentials for the midsouth, southeast, and other cotton growing areas in the U.S.
