A Simplified Approach to Recordkeeping with FieldRecon Software

David Krueger, AgRenaissance Software LLC, PO Box 91235, Raleigh, NC 27675

Keeping detailed field records has always been a challenge. FieldRecon is a software tool that provides a simplified approach to recordkeeping for growers, agronomist, and crop consultants. It uses a journal concept to record and display field records. Each time a field activity is performed, an entry is recorded in the journal. This provides a simplified, yet powerful means for keeping field records.

With FieldRecon, you can record planting data, field observations, treatment applications, and harvest data. Data fields have been added specifically for cotton, such as cotton growth stages, node count, NAWF, etc. Other features include GIS functions for mapping field borders, displaying aerial images, and recording georeferenced soil samples.

PocketRecon, the PocketPC version of FieldRecon, can be used to collect data while in the field, and then upload to a laptop or office PC. PocketRecon eliminates the need to record information twice, thus reducing data entry errors.

Some recent updates to FieldRecon include site specific support for planting, scouting, and recommendations. In addition, a Field Planning module has been added, as well as Work Orders. Pesticide compliance reports have been added for Worker Exposure and Pesticide Use.
