Extending the Boundaries of Spraying Equipment Greenleaf Technologies' Variable Rate TurboDrop®

John Kelly Dupont, Greenleaf Technologies, 230 East Gibson Street, P.O. Box 1767, Covington, LA 70434

Since the beginning of spraying time, nozzle output technology has remained virtually unchanged. Nozzle dynamics have dictated the range of flow possible through any given orifice, bounded by the equation that you must quadruple your pressure to double the flow of any nozzle. These days sprayers are traveling faster, and farmers are looking for a better way to apply different rates across the field, consequently the need for a nozzle with a wider range of flow has arisen. Recently, injection systems and electronic pulsing solenoids have been an option, but they are complicated and expensive and have not been widely adopted.

Greenleaf Technologies is pleased to introduce the TurboDrop® Variable Rate (TDVR), an entirely new nozzle for variable rate applications. The TDVR operates between 30 and 120 psi, achieving a better than 3X rate across this pressure range. Continuing with the TurboDrop's modular two-piece design, any number of pattern configurations can be used, including Flat Fans, Twin Fans, Floods, and Hollow Cones.
