Assessing Cotton Maturity from Longitudinal Measurements

Bugao Xu, The University of Texas at Austin, 1 University Station Stop A2700, Austin, TX 78712

The paper will present the recent study on the correlations of longitudinal measurements and cross-sectional measurements of cotton fibers to build the relationship of cotton maturity obtained from the cross sectional data and the longitudinal data. The longitudinal measurements include the mean thickness, variability of thickness, mean grayscale, etc. The analysis is performed using a multi-vitiate linear regression method. The samples collected represent a wide rang of cotton maturity levels.
