Sugar Mover application to cotton production, under drip irrigation, was described at the 2005 Beltwide Cotton Conference. Sugar Mover reduced sequential sizing of bolls along the branches, resulted in stockier plants and increased yields of cotton fiber and seed. Further research this year (2005) verified the findings from last year and added new information on the benefits of Sugar Mover enhancing crop productivity not only in irrigated cotton but also in dryland cotton production. Improvement in plant architecture, rooting, boll development and crop quality were determined. Additionally, effects of Sugar Mover implementation with other crop production practices were studied. Finally, the modes of action of Sugar Mover on enhancing crop productivity and crop quality were further elucidated.
