COTMAN measurements of fruit retention and crop maturity and insect management information including field scouting records, pheromone trap indices of pest populations, and historical spray records were studied across three large cotton farms in Arkansas. Variability in these spatial and historical observations raises questions about appropriate approaches to allocating resources for the collection of management information. A summary of the observed variations will be presented within a context of different strategic approaches to collecting management information.
