Field Performance of N-HibitTM and ProActTM in Cotton: A Texas Consultant's Perspective

R. Phillips, P.O. Box 668, 416 N. Calvert St., Franklin, TX 77856

Product evaluation by crop protection professionals in commercial conditions is a key aspect of developing new products and technologies in production agriculture.

In 2005, two new plant health regulators were introduced by Eden Bioscience based on Harp-N-TekTM, a proprietary harpin protein technology. N-HibitTM is a seed treatment containing 3% harpinEa. ProActTM is foliar-applied and it contains 1% harpinαβ, a second-generation harpin product. Harp-N-Tek products have been shown to activate internal defense and growth mechaisms in plants. This results in more robust plant health and yield potential through improved vigor, stamina, nutrient uptake, and reproductive growth and through activation of natural self-defense response. Applications of N-Hibit and ProAct were evaluated in 2004 and 2005 field trials.

Findings with N-Hibit and ProAct are reported from a series of commercial field trials conducted by a licensed, independent crop consultant located in eastern Texas. These tests examined and recorded results for plant growth, maturity measurements, and yield were recorded.
