CARBINETM: A new insecticide for the control of plant bugs and aphids in cotton

Craig Heim, Kristine Treacy, and Yemel Ortega. FMC Corporation, 1735 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103

CarbineTM 50WG is a new, selective insecticide for control of aphids, plant bugs, and other sucking pests in cotton. A member of the pyridinecarboxamide class of chemistry, Carbine has a novel mode-of-action with no known cross-resistance to other insecticides. Given its low use rate, short environmental persistence, attractive profile on beneficial and non-target organisms Carbine will be a valuable tool for resistance management programs. Carbine received federal registration in 2005 and will be available for use during the 2006 cotton season.
