An experiment was conducted over three years to compare weed management systems in Liberty Link and Roundup Ready Flex cotton. All systems included two overtop applications of Ignite or Weathermax. Additional variables included the following: Prowl or no Prowl preemergence, Staple or Dual postemergence, and three overtop applications of Ignite or Weathermax compared to two overtop applications followed by a directed application of Ignite, Weathermax or Direx plus MSMA. Weed control was generally comparable in Liberty Link and Flex systems. Good to excellent control of a range of grass and broadleaf weeds was obtained. Results were similar with two overtop applications followed by a postdirected application and three overtop applications. Prowl preemergence and Staple or Dual postemergence were of little value in most trials.
