Yield and Quality Improvement of Significant D&PL Varieties During the Last 25-Years

Thomas A. Kerby and William V. Hugie. Delta and Pine Land Company, One Cotton Row, Scott, MS 38772

Delta and Pine Land Company has released a large number of varieties that have been grown on substantial acres in the US over the past 25 years. The company enters these varieties into public testing as well as their own tests. Company trials include both small plot replicated tests as well as a large number of on-farm large plot trials. Average yield and fiber quality of all test data for significant commercial varieties of Delta and Pine Land Company, beginning with DP Acala 90 up through the varieties released for first commercial sale in 2005, will be reviewed. Trend analysis will be used to observe the historical progress for both yield and fiber quality.
