Insecticide use from 1993 to 2003 was summarized using data from California Department of Pesticide Regulation, Pesticide Use Reports. These data show a marked change in mode of action of products used. The shift from organophosphate and carbamate insecticides to more reduced risk insecticides is apparent. As expected, the number of applications per acre varied with annual pest pressure but some use was dictated by the previous year's experience. The implications to environmental and human health as well insecticide resistance management will be discussed.
