Research was conducted in 2004 and 2005 at the Dean Lee Research Station, Alexandria, LA, and the Northeast Research Station in St. Joseph, LA, to determine weed control from glyphosate and complimentary herbicides in a Roundup Ready Flex Cotton program. Herbicides with residual weed control activity were chosen to be applied with glyphosate to observe if any added weed control benefit was possible from the combinations. Treatments of glyphosate applied alone were also added to this experiment for comparison reasons. Visual weed control assessments were taken at 14, 28, and 56 days after the last herbicide treatment was applied. Yield was also taken at harvest to compare treatment differences. When growers adopt Roundup Ready Flex Cotton into their farming operations, they may want to use herbicide combinations to compliment their glyphosate applications in order to possibly increase weed control. The objective of this study is to see if that may be possible with commonly used cotton herbicides.
