Ignite 280 Herbicide is a glufosinate formulation containing 2.34 lbs ai./gal (280g/l) glufosinate. This is a higher load formulation compared to the previousIgnite formulation containing 1.67 lbs ai/gal. Field research data across the southern cotton growing region indicate that mixing, spraying, and efficacy of Ignite 280 is equivalent or superior to Ignite.

Several states have requested 24(c) registrations for Ignite 280 herbicide which would allow application of Ignite 280 in a LibertyLink cotton system at an increased rate and to increase the number of applications. An increase in the rate of Ignite 280 per application (up to 43 fl oz or 0.8 lb active) would enhance the control of species more difficult to control such as pigweed, Palmer amaranth, and goosegrass. Additionally, an increase in the maximum rate would be useful in situations where rainfall or equipment breakdowns may prevent the grower from making timely applications.

Current labeling effectively limits growers to two applications of Ignite per season. In most cases, two applications per season may not be adequate as weeds often emerge after the second application. A third application would allow growers to make an application with the ease and convenience of an over-the-top application as opposed to the much slower and labor intensive process of directing conventional herbicides.
