Resource (flumiclorac-pentyl) a new tool for cotton harvest aid

Charles Henderson, Billy Corbin, Jimmy Etheridge, and Ronnie Jones. Valent USA Corporation, P. O. Box 5008, Greenville, MS 38704

Resource (flumiclorac-pentyl) is a new product being developed by Valent USA Corporation for use as a cotton harvest aid tool. EPA registration is expected in 2005. Resource is a PPO herbicide already registered for post emergent use in soybeans and corn. The expansion into cotton is a result of superior activity against plants/weeds in the Malvaceae plant family. Effective dose rates for cotton defoliation/desiccation will be 0.04 to 0.054 lbai/A. Tankmix combinations with ethephon and other registered harvest aid chemicals will be recommended. Research has been on-going to investigate effects of aerial versus ground application as well as different tankmix treatments which will be reported.
