Previous research indicates the need for residual herbicides in transgenic-cotton weed control programs is dependent upon the location and weed species present. Experiments were conducted to determine the efficacy of and crop safety to various residual herbicides combined with Roundup Ready cotton weed control programs. Experiments were conducted at the Black Belt Branch Experiment Station in Brooksville, MS. Multiple herbicides were included in this study. Applications were made preemergence, 2-4 leaf, 5-8 leaf, and at layby. Applications were made using a tractor mounted sprayer calibrated to deliver 15 gallons per acre. Yield data will also be collected and along with weed control data will be used to determine the best residual weed control programs in our area.
