Field evaluation of a new lint cleaner

W. Stanley Anthony, U.S. Cotton Ginning Laboratory, P.O. Box 256, 111 Experiment Station road, Stoneville, MS 38776

A new machine to clean lint cotton was field tested at a commercial gin for one season. The machine is essentially an inclined cylinder cleaner combined with a saw-type lint cleaner. Paired comparisons with a conventional lint cleaner indicated that the changes in fiber qualities across the machines were about equal but that the new cleaner typically retains more of the lint than does teh conmventional lint cleaner. The new cleaner is availale for commercialization.
